SAN PEDRO SULA

San Pedro Sula represents Honduras' second largest city. It is considered the economic and industrial heartland of Honduras. The city was founded the 27th of June, 1536 by the Spanish conqueror. The city does not have many foreigners so it is pretty easy to stand out and attract attention. Locals are very friendly, courteous, and helpful.

Time to explore the city.

We go downtown.

Honduras-San Pedro Sula

There are not many, if any at all, tourists here.

Honduras-San Pedro Sula

A city performance attracting men. This is very strange but in all Central America, it's mostly men who get drawn to street performances. Hmm....

Honduras-San Pedro Sula

Downtown in every city of Central America, there is a beautiful church or cathedral. The catholic ones face west, from what I hear.

The cathedral nicely blends in with the red building in the city square.

Mangos are very popular in this part of the world.

I certainly will enjoy them all nicely cut out.

Honduras-San Pedro Sula

A large part of downtown consists of one big market. Booths like these spread in all directions.

Tired and hot, we continue to explore the city downtown area.

Honduras-San Pedro Sula

The booths, crowds, cars honking everywhere, loud music, heat, it's all very intense.

Honduras-San Pedro Sula

The contrast between the simple booths and expensive cars parked outside is very interesting.

Same thing goes on here.
