SUCHITLAN LAKE

This impressive lake was created artificially in 1973 by the Cerron Grande Dam. It has a surface extension of 135 km2, which makes it the largest inland body of water in El Salvador. Lake Suchitlan is one of Suchitoto's principal attractions not only for its size and beauty, but also for the number of fish and birds that live there.

Just two kilometres behind Suchitoto, there is a beautiful Suchitlan Lake.

We go on a 45-minute boat ride

The lake

It is just us and our guide

It is really relaxing to be in the shade and near water after long time of walking in the heat

We are ploughing ahead

We are cruising towards a special place

There is some mysterious "Hermitage Cave" there

This was his home. He slept here, cooked, and spent all his days

We are leaving the cave island

Beautiful blackbirds, cormorans, I think. I am not a bird expert though

And another shot of them

The lake is quiet

You can even observe the peaceful reflection of the clouds

Chill time

Lake is covered with lilly flowers

Few fishermen trying out their luck

Sun is already setting

This is the goodbye to the boatman and the lake
